Robert L Jones transitioned from this earthly realm peacefully in his home on Friday, August 11, 2023. He was born in Cypress, LA on February 21, 1937. He attended Capital High school but completed his secondary education in Brooklyn, New York. Following graduation he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged after four years of service. He worked 37 years for the United States Postal service and retired March 1, 1993 as a Postal Station Manager at the Scotlandville Station. After retirement he worked 15 years at Lyons Specialty Distributing Co. Robert is preceded in death by his parents: Thomas Jones and Lillie B. Wimberly, brothers Charles Jones, and Melvin Jones. He is survived by his devoted wife Shirley Davenport Jones, daughter Kasie Jones Coleman, and two grandsons Wes and Ross Coleman, sister Elaine “Bootsie” Caine, and brother Julius Jones. Robert will be celebrated Monday, February 21, 2023 at Desselle Funeral Home, 263 Eddie Robinson Sr Drive. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation from 9am to 11am followed by funeral services at 11:00am. The burial will take place at Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 Mt. Pleasant, Zachary, LA 70791. Services entrusted to Schaffer Family Funeral Home.
