Obituary For Ollie Harrison Johnson
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
-2 Timothy 4:7-8
Ollie Harrison Johnson transitioned from an earthly life to the heavenly realm at 8:35 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born on November 25, 1951, to the union of Frank, Jr. and Delilah Sanders Harrison. Ollie was a resident of Baker, Louisiana, and a graduate of Southern University and A&M College where she joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated in 1972. Ollie spent her career in education in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, dedicated to serving elementary students with severe profound special needs until her retirement. She was enthusiastic about helping all she encountered and was empathetic in her approach to doing so. Although she was an adopted Mom to many, Ollie leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter Malakah Harrison Hawkins and granddaughter, Morgan Delilah Hawkins of Baton Rouge; nieces Antonia Renee Royal, Leta Harrison, Crystal Harrison and Franquell Harrison; great nieces Paris Milton and Chyna Royal; grandnephew, Cairo Frank Ugbogbo all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; sister-in-law Donna Harrison of Zachary, Louisiana, dear friend Gail Wolf of Baker, Louisiana; and several family members and friends who loved her dearly. Ollie is preceded in death by her parents, Frank, Jr. and Delilah Sanders Harrison, brother Frank Harrison, III, and sister Jessie Jackson. In keeping with Ollie’s wishes, memorial arrangements will include a visitation at Schaffer Family Funeral Home, 15990 LA-77 Rosedale, Louisiana 70772, on Monday, September 26, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will immediately follow at Southern Memorial Gardens, 3012 Blount Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70807, at 1:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Lionel Johnson, Jr.
