Obituary For Norman Stanley Jenkins, Sr. "Stan the Man"

On January 20, 2026, Norman Stanley Jenkins, Sr. was called home to be with our Lord. Norman Stanley Jenkins Sr. (Stan the Man) Was born to his parents Lattimore Jenkins and Vera Mae West. Norman was raised by his grandmother Martha West (Big Mama) who embraced him; he was very close to her heart.

Norman was a big brother too Sandra (Tiny), Sherman, Clifford and Samantha and the late Geraldine West, Gwendolyn West and Jerome West. Norman, in his younger years, liked playing football and basketball with neighborhood friends and work on cars.

Norman studied at The Orleans parish schools and later he attended Job corps center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he completed his course in construction work. Soon after, he met his first wife of 33 years, Renita Edgerson. Norman and Renita married on September 18, 1971, and from this union they formed their family.

His children are Norman Stanley Jenkins (June) Jr., Tamika Jenkins (Mutty), Stanley Ashton Jenkins, and his Babygirl Fallon Jenkins (Fal) Norman loves all his grandchildren; Khyhiara, Orion, Niesha, Deataniee (Dooda), Jamia, Dejanique, Jahree, Mariah, Nyla, Jade, Tatiana. Grandsons, Semaj, Ja'Shyne (jigg), Raheem, Norman ll, Big Norman III, Zion, Rico, and the late June David. Norman was also a great grandfather of 15 great-grandchildren. Norman was brother-in-law to Debra Edgerson the late Rhonda Edgerson and Ms. Martha Scott. Norman was also the father-in-law to Maurice Warner, Jeffrey Hatcher, and Philbert (Philly dog), and the late James Short. Norman also remarried in 2005 to Gail session Williams who proceeded him in death.

Norman is also leaving behind a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Norman like to interact with his daughters-in-law Gina Doughty, Nicole Marshall, Alice Marie Jenkins, Eva Callaway, Crystal, Spotville, Terrica Sterling. The last 2 years was challenging health wise but the love of God was there to comfort him he will be with the Lord but never forgotten. So, sleep on knowing to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. In time we will always love you in our hearts and we will see you again one day when we get to the other side.

P.S. – “yeah y'all hurry up with this cause I ain't got all day!” The words of Stan the Man!
