Obituary For Lemar Sanderford

Lemar Sanderford was born to the union of Andrew Sanderford, Sr. and the late Clara Bell Sanderford on April 22, 1972, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Lemar entered eternal rest Friday, January 6, 2023, at the age of 50 years old. Lemar accepted Christ and was baptized in April of 1987 at True Light Baptist Church. He later moved his membership to Hughes United Methodist Church. He rededicated his life to Christ alongside his wife, Latrenda Sanderford at New Home Family Worship Center International of Baton Rouge, La. under the leadership of Bishop Samuel R. Blakes. Lemar and Latrenda enjoyed spending quiet time together reading the Bible and listening to Gospel music.

Lemar was a 1990 graduate of Belaire High School, where he played the saxophone in the band. After graduating from High School, Lemar studied at Southern University A&M College. He began his working career at Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital with nine years of service. A short time later he became involved with law enforcement work and making a huge impact on the community for over twenty years. Lemar was employed with Jetson Correctional Center for the Youth, Elayn Hunt Correctional Center of St. Gabriel, Louisiana and West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office in Port Allen, Louisiana.

Lemar was loved by many, and he passionately loved spending time with his family. He loved supporting his granddaughters in their sporting activities and events doing his time off. Sometimes after treatment he would still come watch them play. He loved reading, relaxing in his hammock, cooking, and listening to Southern University “Human Jukebox." Whether Lemar was having a good day or bad day, he always kept his faith in God and remained strong through it all. We will never let his hard work and dedication to his Family be forgotten. Lemar was loved by many.

Lemar leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: his wife, Latrenda Sanderford, his sons, Lemar Sanderford, Jr. and Rashie H. (Megan) McDowell; grandchildren, Reagan, Rachelle, and Raelin McDowell, Jordan Woods and Makayla White; three sisters, Drucilla D.
