Obituary For David Paul Blacher

David Paul Blacher was born December 4, 1960, to the union of Beverly and Harold Blacher, Sr. and was the youngest of five children.

David was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Isiah Mitchell at St. Joseph Baptist Church where he was a member of the Sunday School and the Children’s Choir. He attended McKinley Sr. High, where he chose to withdraw from continuing his high school education to enter the workforce. He traveled to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to pursue his profession as a painter. He later returned to Baton Rouge where he became a self-employed painter. David continued painting until his health began to fail.

He was comical, never met a stranger, and always asked his sisters after holiday gatherings to, “Bring me a plate!” And, yes, we brought him a plate. David was also a lover of music.

Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Beverly Blacher, a son, Randy Bell, a daughter, Jassica Bell, four sisters, Debra, Daryl, and Rita Blacher, and Loretta Holley (Andrew) of Houston, Texas, stepmother Ida Blacher of Houston; Texas; aunts, Gwendolyn Blacher of Texas City, Texas, Constance Izevbizau, Margie Blacher; uncle Michael Tate. Two nephews, Kerry Murray and Jordan Blacher and a host of relatives and friends.

David is preceded in death by his father, Harold Blacher, Sr., brother Harold “Chip” Blacher, Jr.; maternal grandparents Edward and Mildred Shavers; paternal grandparents Alphonse and Viola Blacher; uncles Louis and Alphonse Blacher, Jr. and aunts, Carrie Blacher and Jessie McNair
