Obituary For Betty Joe West

Betty Joe West was born on August 1, 1944 to Leroy and Martha Johnson West at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. She was sent to live with her grandparents Watt & Josephine Johnson in Greensburg, LA where she remained until she was 14 years of age. She then lived in New Orleans until relocating after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She lived in Houston TX for one year, but was determined to move home to Greensburg, LA, where she lived until her last day.

Betty Joe accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. She joined Rocky Hill A.M.E. church in 2011 and was a devoted choir member. She worked at St. Helena Nursing Home as a Housekeeper and laundry attendant. She enjoyed watching television, singing, and listening to music, dancing, and being surrounded by her beautiful family.

Betty Joe dressed to impress at all times and had to match every piece. A church member once said, “Can’t nobody do it like Ms. Betty, AKA Diva Mama.” She never wanted to be late for anything; if you promised to pick her up for an event she would be dressed and ready hours ahead of time and calling to see where you were.

Betty Joe departed this life on November 18, 2022. She will truly be missed by all who loved her.

She leaves her loving memories six children: Kathy A. West, Andrea West, Pamela West-Robertson (Randy Ray) of Greensburg, LA Kevin West of Monroe, LA Christopher West (Kasey) of Denham Springs, LA and LaToya West of Houston, TX.
